Who is the angel in nightwish amaranth

I interpret the song two ways. Either way, I think it is a song of encouragement. For me, it's about growing up and being corrupted by the world around you. You find yourself bitter and guarded after being wounded, and maybe you're even playing the same games as the ones that hurt you.

You have to learn to be honest again. Like a child. How you were born. The stripped down and perhaps original interpretation is that it's about having big plans, being let down, and having to find your way again.

This could apply to some things the band was going through at the time, but I'm not going into that here. The lyrics are above and I analyze them in order, so I will not include all of them. Please excuse my goofy writing style. I also apologize in advance for talking too much. He began and was blessed with a perfect "name", in the sense of a record or reputation.

He's a skeptic by nature, distrusting of outside influence or guidance. He is losing a sense of identity and feels he has no one to turn to. I believe this represents change or new beginnings. This also implies that he is living in the night in darkness or negativity.

He needs someone to blame. He feels this need because there is no one to blame. You mostly choose your own destiny, but sometimes life puts you in an unexpected situation that is out of your control.

This should be self-explanatory, but one line refers to doubt and distrust, the other to accountability. The second line could be antagonistic to the first. Caress the one. The other you. The REAL you, that is not dragged down by bitterness and sorrow, but feels on top of the world and unstoppable. Something "never-fading" is always there. Your inner child is always there waiting to be called on.

The structure of the next line makes me think the rain and tears are one and the same. The fact that the tears remain in your heart and never appear on your face could mean you're holding back, or having a hard time letting go of something.

Snow white implies purity Amaranth is a flower that doesn't die easily. The ancient Greeks thought it to have magical healing properties, and this legend has been perpetuated by some modern fantasy writing. Your "magic cure" won't at first be apparent, and you will look in the wrong places.

I believe "the hidden amaranth" refers to drawing on hidden strength within and persevering. In a land of the daybreak means that in this world you will constantly face change. Doing things our own way, in this short life, we reach out to others who are not afraid to take charge of their own life and risk being ostracized for being different.

Repeat Repeat Reaching, searching for something untouched or unruined Hearing voices of the Never-Fading calling. You can hear the voices because "the Never-Fading" is not that far away. Repeat END In the video, the boys rescue an angel wounded innocence because they are still young, honest and good-natured.

If you will notice, the rest of the villagers are all old and suspicious of anything different corrupted. Obviously you can't kill an angel with fire, but the boys might also be a kind of amaranth to the angel, since they saved it from drowning. Or something more serious like whatever spiritual battle caused it to be bloody and unconscious. One beautiful thing about music is that many people can enjoy the same piece and have a totally different experience.

I made my own experience about myself, but maybe I'm self-centric. I think Amaranth is anyone or anything you can look to and count on when you need help. It could be God, or a significant other, or Zelda There was an error. Did you listen to it yet? HiggsBoson on July 11, General Comment OK. Let me be the one to put a different spin on things. I am sure that the video and the lyrics are closely linked in that what we see there is a fallen angel.

Only one - Lucifer. Despite his perfect name, he was 'alone without himself' - alone from God and without himself in the sense that his fall was against what he ought to have been by nature - so he is against himself. God needed someone to blame for this rebellion, so cast him out - there was 'little he could do alone' to dethrone God.

You only believe what you see presented as the facts. You only receive what you give - people live within the Christian worldview, and they only get back small returns. There is a play on the well-known biblical phrase about 'what you give is given to you in return'. What you and I need to do is not reject the Fallen Angel, but caress him.

The refrain is an appeal to those who can see beyond the Judeo-Christian way of things so that they will 'caress the never-fading hiding amaranth in the land of the daybreak'. Finland is one of the Scandinavian countries who are traditionally the land of the daybreak and who harbour the roots of paganism and the Old Religions. An amaranth is a flower seen in mythology as symbolising eternity.

So, what you have is Lucifer, the never fading one who hides in the land of the daybreak despite the surrounding Christianity. What are we to do? Caress him not reject him. Ought we to hear 'Rain in your heart' or 'Reign in your heart'? Everyone who lives thoughtlessly in Christian ignorance. Who are the ones who ever dare? Those who follow an Older path and who in their brief flight of time dare to believe something different.

Nevertheless, the Never Fading One calls to us if we will hear him. Not God, of course, but Lucifer. This song is veiled but decipherable. It's not a fallen angel, thanks to God. It can't be devil you fool, cause it's girl. Have you saw the end of the video. The Angel rise up in the sky, returning to God. Danilosoulsaver on May 22, I certainly hope you don't live by the policy you seem to express in writing.

Lucifer fell because it's impossible to dethrone God. Since all reality falls from God, then it's folly to believe that anything can be more powerful than Him.

Everyone who caresses the Devil falls into oblivion, look what corrupt leaders do to the world. Also, I'm a little unclear on how you get the idea that everyone just accepts the Christian worldview; Satan is the one we see everyday, it's God that is unseen until one allows themselves to see and listen. Only by living the way God meant us too can we find true peace and happiness. Man you guys are so closed-minded These are not his lyrics, he's just interpreting them, and giving much-needed background as to the symbolism in the song.

Who ever said satan is automatically a man?! PookieEatWorld on March 03, OfThoseUntold on May 08, This is quite an interesting interpretation. Wasn't Lucifer cast down to earth because he just wanted to surpass God? Is this a sin - try to go past all limits, and to give the best of yourself?

Freedom, hope, dreams God is supposed to act like a father to His angels and men. Why would He want to prevent people from aiming higher?

This, in my opinion, is the meaning of pride. What Lucifer did Xelias on August 02, I think your interpretation of the lyrics is very interesting. I never looked at it this way. Amaranthe on March 22, I've always felt Lucifer's and God's roles where reversed in the bible. God created the heavens and the earth and everything that walks upon it. He created the Angels, to uphold order and peace in the cosmos. Then he goes and creates mankind, and virtually says 'Serve unto them as you would serve unto me.

Lucifer in all his glory thought God has made a grave a error. So naturally he set out to show God how inferior man was, by tempting them. And thus God cast out Lucifer. None of it feels out of place. Sometimes she sounds comparable to one, sometimes the other. But she does have her own sound that's definitely different than that of Nightwish's old singer, Tarja Turunen. Overall, it's a fun pop rock song with some metal aspects and more thoughtful lyrics than most bands produce. I agree completly.

I am a Brazilian girl and a super fan. You said exactly what i think about this video. Ana Paula. Mmm, I agree with what you've said. The symbolisim is completely open to interpretation as well, and thats one of the things that makes the music video very intreguing.

I like Nightwish, but I have to say I'm not a devout fan. I only know a few songs, a few of my friends love them But I really like the music video, and found both it and the painting very striking. Thank you for bothering to comment to let me know!

This scene represents that she is going to die and be resurrected by cleansing herself of the mud she emerged from earlier. After she emerges from the water, she is cleansed and she stands next to crosses. The Sun is also coming out now. After she has been cleansed and resurrected, represented by the crucifixes, she lets go of the strings attatched to the crows and she is no longer pulled around by them.

She is now free. She now becomes nobody or a nemo, which is what this song is about. She is her soul again. She is resurrected. Her third eye now goes from having a skull in it to returning to being a normal iris. She is no longer spiritually dead. When she comes back to life, the Sun comes out, she now sees the light of the spirit.

This is me for forever One of the lost ones She is spiritually lost, she and everyone else who is ignorant is lost from Heaven. The one without a name Without an honest heart as compass This is me for forever One without a name These lines the last endeavour To find the missing lifeline Oh how I wish For soothing rain All I wish is to dream again My loving heart Lost in the dark For hope I'd give my everything My flower Withered between The pages two and three The flower is the soul and the pages are the body that hides teh flower.

The once and forever bloom gone with my sins Walk the dark path Sleep with angels Call the past for help The past is her former self. Touch me with your love And reveal to me my true name The name she's referring to isn't her physical name of her strawman identity. Her true name is her true self. Oh how I wish For soothing rain The rain is the light of the spirit. All I wish is to dream again My loving heart Lost in the dark For hope I'd give my everything Oh how I wish For soothing rain Oh how I wish to dream again Once and for all And all for once Nemo my name forever more Now she reveals the name she's been talking about.

It's also the name mentioned at the start of Amaranth. Nemo means no body, ie soul. The soul is the true name or the true self and it lasts forever. Nemo sailing home Nemo letting go The Nemo sailing home is the soul returning to Heaven and Nemo letting go is the soul letting go of the body and its ignorance. Tarja Turunen left Nightwish but she is still producing music and this music has Gnostic themes to them as well. Phantom voices with no words to follow At the mercy of the cold and hollow I withdrew into my sanctuary of silence My defence.

In this moment I am just becoming Liberated from my cell of nothing The cell of nothing is the body and the nothing means the lack of soul. The movie called Never Ending Story is about the Nothing taking over the person and destroying him. No sensation there was only breathing Overcome oblivion.
