The Damage stat dictates how much damage the weapon does. The Stats Needed determines how high various Stats must be in order to wield the weapon effectively. For example, a character with 18 Strength can wield a Large Club Requires 26 Strength properly if the weapon is held with both hands.

The Damage Reduction stat dictates the percentage of damage reduced while blocking. Create account or Sign in. Join the Site! Move set is identical to Broadsword 's, except that 2-handed strong attack is replaced by a downward slash that releases a shockwave projectile. Aim at the Hellkite Wyvern's tail. Because of your distance and the weight of the arrows, you may need to aim slightly above the wyvern's tail to make sure they hit.

Also, you will have to time your shots well as the tail swings quite quickly back and forth. Wait for the Hellkite Wyvern to return to its position on the bridge. After you shoot the wyvern's tail, it will fly to the bridge above and try to find you. After a few moments, it will return to its position guarding the bridge and the tail will be in the same spot as before. Repeat shooting the tail until you receive the Drake Sword. If you continue shooting the wyvern's tail, after 20 or so shots determined by your weapon damage stats and the size of your arrows you will see a screen prompt saying you have received the Drake Sword.

You can find a crossbow earlier in the game, or get a bow later on by going to Darkroot Basin. Yes No. Not Helpful 2 Helpful 3. Include your email address to get a message when this question is answered.

That way, if you accidentally die, you can easily get back up under the bridge from that bonfire. These scales can only be found on certain bosses, such as the Deeproot Hollow Hydra, so take care not to use the Drake Sword in the later stages of the game if you want to be efficient.

Helpful 43 Not Helpful The Drake Sword is a very powerful weapon early on. If held two-handed and used with a strength attack, it will create a shock wave blast ahead of you, dealing massive damage but also damaging your sword significantly. You have to cut off the drake's tail to get the Drake Sword. How you choose to accomplish this is up to you, but in general shooting the tail from under the bridge is the easiest way. I know you have to cut it off somehow but is there a different way to obtain it other that shooting it's tail from under the bridge. You could try to aggro the drake on the bridge and run around it to cut off its tail.

However that might prove infeasible for someone at low levels. There also used to be glitches with the Drake. I know several of them got patched, but new ones might exist. I would check the wiki for that info. I thought that there was an easier way like getting to a secret area and do a fatal plunging attack that kills him. Anyway, I am probably going to get the Drake Sword and leave the Dragon be. I'm not going to use a glitch to kill him. I am trying to play Dark Souls cleanly and only use a glitch if I have to.

Most of them tend to range between at a push, and will not pack nearly the same punch. Players will need a minimum of 16 Strength and 10 Dexterity to efficiently wield the sword, but for most classes, this won't require much work at all. Functionally, the Drake Sword acts the same as a standard sword.
